Finding the Best Places to Nap

Beloit’s Health and Wellness Center held a sleep awareness campaign this spring that emphasized to students the importance of good quality sleep and the role of sleep in taking care of oneself.

Among other things, the center asked students to name the best napping spots on campus. Although the response was low, possibly indicating that not enough napping is taking place, the top napping spots were in the library and the Hendricks Center for the Arts. Even more interesting was why students said they chose these locations. One respondent said that the second floor of the Hendricks Center “occasionally features lullaby-like accompaniment from nearby piano lessons.” Not surprisingly, the library was a favorite mainly for its quietude, but the building’s lower level was also nap-friendly because it is “dark and cozy.”
